on 12 February, President Cyril Ramaphosa sought to
reassure investors and provide policy clarity in key sectors
by reasserting central authority and signalling continuity in
economic policy.

The month was marked by continued delayed national crime statistics, several high-profile violent incidents, deepening kidnapping and extortion risks, and ongoing evidence of criminal infiltration in parts of the state.
