Threads of Generosity: Restoring Hope Amidst Disaster

Matlakala Amabotse, supported by Bidvest Protea Coin’s enterprise development initiatives, spearheads a sewing project across Hammanskraal, Ledig, and Phola communities. Recently, Matlakala Amabotse – Hammanskraal fulfilled a significant order for Adcock Ingram, crafting 650 blankets with a special narrative. These blankets, repurposed from Bidvest Protea Coin uniforms and insulated with silver material from Adcock Ingram, aim to provide warmth and solace to disadvantaged communities. The industrious women of Kanana in Hammanskraal poured their efforts into completing this order, successfully delivering it to Adcock Ingram.

Tragically, on Wednesday, September 20th, 2023, a devastating event struck the Kameeldrift informal settlement. Violent windstorms fuelled a wildfire, destroying about 90 shacks and leaving over 150 individuals homeless. Responding to this crisis, Bidvest Protea Coin, in partnership with Youthzones, extended support to the displaced community by donating 150 mattresses.

We extend our gratitude to Adcock Ingram for their generous contribution to this humanitarian endeavour. Of the 650 blankets produced by the Matlakala Amabotse project, Adcock Ingram provided 200, significantly aiding our relief efforts.

These blankets, crafted by women from one disadvantaged community, symbolize solidarity and compassion. They serve as a reminder that even in the darkest moments, the thread of empathy can stitch together hope.
